The Extended Care & Rehabilitation Service Line is actively recruiting for Providers to assist with:
Community Living Center (CARF Accredited Inpatient Unit, Palliative/Hospice, Skilled, Short/Long Stay Dementia)
We are seeking Physicians with areas of specialty that may be Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, Hospice/Palliative, Physiatry, and Neurology that may assist in the above clinical realm.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Provider:
-- Provide primary medical care/treatment services to assigned areas collaborate with mid-level practitioners as assigned
-- Adhere to established policies and processes
-- Comply with all CPRS documentation procedures and documentation requirements
-- Comply with local and national performance measures
-- Provide consistent customer service with patients/families, staff, facility management, etc.
-- Provide prompt diagnostic assessment and evaluation, including full history and physical exam, appropriate labs, radiological imaging, consultations, documentation of the evaluation and appropriate coding for billing in progress notes, communication with admitting teams, and discharge planning on all patients
--Review all Outlook and VISTA email communications prior to completing his/her duty shift
--Complete and sign all electronic medical records and all orders prior to the completion of each duty shift. Consistent with current medical staff by-laws, all transcribed electronic medical record documents must be signed within twenty four (24) hours of the encounter regardless of the duty schedule
--Complete all patient encounters (note) within twenty-four hours of patient visit
--Pain Management (shared responsibility between P&SM Service Line and EC&R Service Line)
-- Assist in the development of new EC&R Programs
-- Assist with other administrative and clinical duties as needed
-- Ensure all medical record documentation related to his or her practice is complete and timely as per OMS bylaws.
-- Acts as a leader of the interdisciplinary treatment team making decisions/modifications with the treatment plan with input from all rehabilitation treatment team disciplines as appropriate.
-- Attends all identified clinical and administrative meetings, participates in OMS affairs, peer reviews (upon request), and participates in quality improvement initiatives/activities.
-- Services are provided to meet the needs of the Veterans per clinical practice guidelines, rehabilitation protocols and treatments are modified and/or implemented to ensure measurable outcomes.
-- Ensure ongoing communication and collaboration with Service Line Director, peers within VA Central Iowa and other stakeholders, acts as an advocate for the person served within VA Central Iowa.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - mainly administrative hours

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Physicians that areboard certified or board eligible in Geriatrics, Internal Medicine or Hospice/Palliative Care are preferred and mustmaintain professional competency as indicated in their delineation of privileges. All physicians must maintain current BLS certification, and ACLS certification if indicated per medical center policies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
