Inova's Infection Prevention (IP) team is comprised of Medical Technologists, Registered Nurses and Master’s of Public Health degreed professionals who possess the highest professional standards and who continuously seek to maintain integrity and a highest degree of competency in the area of Infection Prevention and control and epidemiology. The team is supported by a talented Data Analyst, who helps the team to compile data for internal and external (regulatory) reporting requirements.
At Inova, we use an epidemiologic approach to conducting infection surveillance and analysis to monitor the effectiveness of prevention and control strategies that are consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives. Our IPs act as Subject Matter Experts and consultants to customers including patients, staff, physicians, and departmental personnel to improve infection prevention within the organization and they conduct other infection prevention and control activities as needed.
• Two to three years of clinical experience as an RN or MT OR experience in Infection Prevention and Control/Epidemiology or Public Health. • 2-3 years of Nursing, MT, or Public Health experience. • MT (ASCP) Registry OR a BA/BS, BSN degree • CIC within 2 years of hire • Ability to travel between Inova facilities (all in northern Virginia). • Familiarity with computer programs and data analysis.
Preferred Skills/Experience: • Experience in Infection Prevention and Control/Epidemiology • Master's degree
