DIRECTOR OPERATIONS, ONCOLOGY
Under the supervision of the senior vice president and chief operating officer of operations-service lines at McHenry Hospital, this professional will develop the strategic business and tactical plans to grow and develop the service line and maximize the effectiveness of Oncology within Centegra Health System. This individual will facilitate the integration and teamwork to ensure the highest level of care for patients, as well as appropriate physician contracting and relations, program evaluation, marketing and business development, and management of service lines for growth and development and achievement of quality/service objectives. Other responsibilities:
Ensure that all Oncology functions are performed in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Centegra Health System.
Conduct thorough analyses and develop strategies, methodologies, and relationships to develop, grow, and integrate service lines throughout the system.
Proactively lead service lines communication by developing procedures and controls to ensure effective information flow that anticipates and addresses needs, complaints, and problems while representing Centegra positively to our customers, stakeholders, and the public.
Work cohesively with other leaders, physicians, and departments that play a role in the Oncology service line to ensure growth and quality service.
Lead the preparation and implementation of operating and capital budgets, and ensure that hospitals meet goals for operating margin, process improvement, and resource allocation.
Provide external perspective of the core service line to develop appropriate continuums of care and set business strategies to address market opportunities and practice innovations.
Design and implement systems that create efficiency, improve outcomes, and promote service line.
Develop an effective working relationship with the medical staff, Cancer Conference Committee, medical staff leadership, and business and community leadership to ensure their education and support of activities, programs, and objectives.
Develop through mentorship and coaching a responsible, productive, effective, and thoroughly accountable leadership team.
Ensure that the hospital meets or exceeds all applicable standards of excellence and requirements of federal/state/city regulatory bodies by assisting the team in identifying and complying with policies and regulatory standards of appropriate and adequate documentation.
Use Centegra Health System initiatives and resources to foster improvement in patient outcomes, and oversee the safety plan to reduce hazards and risks, prevent accidents and injuries, and maintain safe conditions for Associates, patients, and physicians.
Coordinate major projects, specifically the implementation of successful cost containment initiatives, including necessary contract negotiation.
Project future staffing requirements; oversee the selection and training processes for the development of an effective and efficient staff; evaluate, counsel, and discipline departmental staff; analyze information on turnover, performance appraisal learning needs, and competency; and facilitate a climate conducive to learning.
Continuously improve service outcomes by overseeing development and follow-through of improvement opportunities that are consistent with our mission, vision, and values.
Act as a role model for staff by responding effectively to customer-satisfaction issues, meeting and exceeding expectations, resolving challenging situations, and planning ahead to decrease inconveniences to our customers.

Assume responsibility for the negotiation and success of all contracting efforts.
Five or more years of experience leading cancer and oncology services, including five or more years in operational leadership and growth of clinical programs and service lines
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field
MBA, MSN, or MHA
Strong understanding of managed health care, reimbursement, contracting, physician perspectives, marketing, and methodologies for evaluating the quality implications and efficiency of current services and the development of potential new service opportunities
Sound business judgment with solid knowledge of healthcare services, operations, finance, and patient-satisfaction strategies
Demonstrated ability to work in a professional, multidisciplinary team as a group leader, facilitator, or participant
Reputation as a strategic systems thinker and role model
Documented self-starter and team leader who recognizes and supports associates in the achievement of the organizational mission and objectives
Experience and documented abilities in the areas of cost saving, expenditure control, revenue enhancement, and efficiencies in healthcare operations
