Highlands Behavioral Health System is an 86 bed freestanding behavioral health hospital offering psychiatric care for adults and adolescents. Centrally located in Littleton, the facility is easily accessible to families throughout the Front Range and just minutes from surrounding communities.

Intake RN

The Intake RN responds to all persons requesting assistance either by telephone or in person, and provides psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention and referrals to Hospital staff and services to outside sources, based on the nature of the problem(s) and financial resources.  Admissions to the Hospital are facilitated through coordinated efforts with the Business Office, Utilization Review and the Department of Nursing Services.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Responds to telephone and/or walk-in requests for psychiatric assistance.
2. Assesses each inquiry to determine clinical need of caller and/or patient, and makes referral to appropriate level of care.
3. Maintains daily log of all incoming and pending Intake calls and Assessments.
4. Maintains a good working relationship and ongoing communication with referral sources.
5. Completes the admission of patients.
6. Collaborates with hospital personnel and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
7. Promotes a positive working environment and guest relations.
8. Completes procedures as stipulated in CCR 27-65 regulations as required.
9. Promotes safety by attending mandatory inservices and complies with all safety measures initiated by the facility
10. Reviews labs and referrals
