The Sr. Associate Director manages standards interpretation, which includes all activities associated with the daily operation and coordination of the standard interpretation function for all programs and product lines. Provides interpretation of all Joint Commission standards with special emphasis on standards issues related to specific settings, or accreditation programs, as assigned by the Director. Provides direction and leadership to surveyors addressing interpretation of standards and survey processes. Participates as a consultant in the development and revision of standards and survey process and in support of ongoing accreditation services and special projects. Serves as faculty for surveyor and field education programs and represents the Joint Commission at speaking engagements. In conjunction with operations team, ensures that surveyed organizations receive excellent customer service and that their accreditation needs are met.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Managerial ability to plan, organize, and implement activities for a diverse staff.
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with individuals at various levels both inside and outside of the organization, sometimes in sensitive situations.
Ability to identify manpower requirements and skills required to meet the needs of customers.
Ability to travel regularly to conduct surveys and observe surveyors as team member.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A health care professional with either a clinical or administrative background and a minimum of a master’s degree in management or a related field.
Experience in three accreditation fields with a minimum of five years in a hospital medical-surgical clinical area and three years in a management role.
Knowledge of Joint Commission policies, standards, survey, and accreditation processes.
Strong computer skills preferred, including familiarity with databases, graphics and word processing.
