The Iowa City Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System is seekingtwo (2) experienced and dynamic internal medicine physicians to serve as part time - 2/8th-Hospitalists.Services to be performed include but are not limited to:
In the performance of official duties, the Hospitalists have regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive date which must be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHS policy. The Physicians will be responsible for (1) protecting that data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion and (2) following applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc. as set out in a computer access agreement which the employee signs.
- Citizenship of the United States. Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with Department of Veterans Affairs policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a first-year residency, or its equivalent, approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which it was completed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine.
Physical Requirements: This position requires visual acuity; keen hearing (aid permitted); clear, distinctive speech; and manual dexterity. This position requires walking (up to 3 hours), standing (up to 3 hours), stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing.
