LOCATION: Geisinger South Wilkes Barre/ Based at Geisinger Wyoming Valley

Provides paramedic level care, within the scope of Act 45, to Life Flight patients in
conjunction with the Flight Nurse. Functions as a team member in the Emergency Department and assists physicians and ED Staff to provide care to Emergency Department patients as needed. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients from birth to 100+ years range.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient
Works under the supervision of the Life Flight Program Coordinator, the Operations Director Emergency Medicine and the Medical Director.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Completion of an approved Paramedic program and current Pennsylvania state certification as an EMT-Paramedic required.
ACLS, PALS, BTLS or ITLS certification required. Either BTLS or PHTLS certification required. PALS required (NPALS - within one year of assignment required). NRP required within 6 months of assignment. F-PC credential is required within one year of hire
Knowledge of medical and legal aspects of the Emergency Department, including
state-defined limitations of paramedic role, required.
Working knowledge of medical record charts and other related records required.
Knowledge of medical terminology, gross anatomy and physiology required.
Principles of basic and advanced life support required.
Minimum three years as an EMT-Paramedic, to include minimum two years with an emergency advanced life support unit, required.
Minimum three years as an EMT-Paramedic with an emergency advanced life support unit.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in a clinical environment. Requires excellent physical and mental
health with no physical limitations to working aboard aircraft.
Crew members must be able to wear a program provided flight helmet with NVGs. Crew members do the have option to purchase a program approved alternative helmet that is compatable with GMC's NVGs.
