Fairview Health Services is looking for a L & D Surgical Technologist to work in our Team and Patient focused setting to support our OB Labor Delivery Cases at Fairview Ridges Hospital, located in Burnsville, MN.
Ridges is a150 bed community based hospital and currently has 12 Main OR Rooms, 2 L&D OR Suites, 12 L&D birthing and Triage rooms, and averages 200 births a month.The L & D Tech is a hybrid role and performs the functions of a surgical technologist as a scrub person during surgical procedures providing patient care services served during the shift of duty in collaboration with the RN as well as providing support services to the Birthplace unit. They are responsible for adhering to standards of nursing practice and patient care, correct use of supplies/equipment and maintenance of the surgical suite under the direction of a RN. Primary role will be supporting the Birthplace department (non-OR rooms) with patient care, duties at the desk, stocking patient rooms, and room turnover.
Position is 48 hours in a 2 week pay period and is Benefit Eligible
12 hour Day shifts 7a-7p
Rotating weekends, every 3rd weekend.
Rotation of every 3rd holiday.
No call required at this time.

Serves as scrub person during Labor & Delivery operative procedures
Anticipates surgeons needs
Supplies appropriate instruments, suture and specialty items.
Maintains aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
Assures proper identification and handling of specimens.
Completes all required sponge, sharps and instrument counts.
Follows appropriate action in emergency situations.
Provides patient care
Adheres to standards of clinical practice and patient care appropriate to the age of the patients.
Assists in transfer/positioning of patients.
Collaborates with the MD and circulating nurse to provide care for each patient.
Respects the confidentiality of all information
Corrects use and setup of supplies and equipment
Assures availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment.
Assembles and adjust equipment.
Cleans and replenishes supplies as needed.
Participates in the evaluation of new equipment or supplies.
Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room in readiness of next patient.
Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
Military, LPN surgical assistant or surgical technologist training completion
BLS for health care providers
Graduate from an accredited ( CAAHEP * or ABHES) accredited during your enrollment. Surgical Technologist program or accredited LPN school
1 to 3 years surgical experience including c/sections
AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
