The Registered Nurse (Interventional Special Procedures) works in a variety of arenas including, but not limited to: Interventional Radiology, Interventional procedures, CT scan hydration, supporting ancillary Cardiology Services, and providing relief assistance in pre-op education, SDSU and PACU as needed. Major Duties for Same Days Surgery RN: The RN functions as an integral member of the Special Procedures Team to provide care for patients with complex, stable and unstable conditions. The RN utilizes nursing standards, guidelines, and treatment modalities. The RN's role includes, but is not limited to: initial and ongoing physical and psychosocial assessments; synthesis of data from various assessments, monitoring devices, laboratory and imaging reports; problem identification; patient advocacy; collaboration with others; strict observation of infection control guidelines; moderate sedation medication administration; airway management skills and patient education. Functions independently in the complex environment with a critical care expertise and must be able to accept and adapt to the constant changing patient care environment. Collaborates with members of the surgical team and other multi-disciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care for the scheduled, unscheduled, or emergency surgical procedures. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required in specific specialty areas. Tour of Duty: 0730-1600 Monday-Friday, rotation of call coverage with PACU for after hours, weekends, and holidays as needed. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
