The Marion, Illinois VAMC is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses to join the Clinical Manpower Team within Nursing Service. There are ten (10) vacancies with the Marion, IL VAMC. These are temporary positions not to exceed one year. Multiple work schedules are available. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until April 30, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be January 20, 2021, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions filled. These are temporary positions not to exceed one year. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) under the direct supervision of the RN, MD, DO, NP or PA is held accountable for delivering direct patient care. The purpose of these positions is to provide increased clinical support to the health care system during a disaster, pandemic, staffing crisis, or any cause of patient surge or sudden increased clinic demand for services. The Licensed Practical Nurse on the Clinical Manpower Team will supplement the nursing staff by performing simple triage at screening and checkpoint stations. The LPN will perform tests such as nasopharyngeal swabs, phlebotomy, vital signs, administer vaccinations in both indoor or outdoor settings. The LPN may be used to supplement staff in other outpatient and inpatient areas where a broader set of clinical skills may be required. PLEASE NOTE: This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. If selected, Applicant will provide proof of current certification prior to employment. Only BLS certification which included Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification obtained from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Treatment Training Network (MTN) will be accepted. Work Schedule: Multiple work schedules are available. Tour of Duty will be 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Saturday. Overtime may be required depending on operating needs of the facility.
