This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. The Mental Health Acute Inpatient RN is poised and articulate in communicating with people of varied educational levels and ethnic backgrounds, they work cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments; making caring for the veteran their priority while in the work setting. The Mental Health Acute Inpatient RN is self-motivated in the pursuit of meeting professional work standards. They meet physical demands of the nursing position and are able to participate in Code Green situations. Duties include but are not limited to: Documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition. Collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes. Providing a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of complex physical and/or behavior problems. Administers medication and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Active participation in staff and interdisciplinary care meetings. Identifies the application of research based material to implement best practices within the unit. Active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs.
