Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is seeking a dynamic, hard-working individual to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the General Surgery Section of Surgical Service. The ideal candidate is energetic and willing to learn. Our service functions as a team and we are looking for the next member of our team. We support each other and help each other. Above all, the candidate must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work harmoniously with attending staff, residents, support, ancillary and administrative personnel. The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide support for the General Surgery patients across the spectrum of care. The candidate will participate in the outpatient clinic to evaluate preoperative and postoperative surgical patients. The candidate will be expected to work with the attending staff and surgical resident team to provide coordinated high quality care to the hospitalized inpatients on the General Surgery Service. The candidate will communicate with patients by phone and address their concerns and questions. The candidate will be expected to be a quick study and incorporate the standard care pathways utilized on the service to practice. Opportunity to participate as an assistant in the operating room is possible for qualified candidates but not required by any means. The candidate will report directly to the Section Chief of General Surgery. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will function within the scope of practices as defined by the State of Ohio Nurse Practice Act. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Must be flexible based on the needs of the Service. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
