Directly responsible/accountable for the development and delivery of Patient Care Service's professional growth, employee development, and education programs throughout all Critical Care units within the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Healthcare System to include the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Department. They will foster critical thinking skills, possess influence as an education leader, and ensure compliance in the critical care staff and evaluate for improvements and process outcomes. Duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible for the individualized employee orientation, development, coordination, and implementation of a variety of education programs Assessment and maintenance of staff competency and involvement in quality improvement and research utilization to enhance the care of the critically ill patient. Responsible for the initiation of Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO), ensuring learning opportunities for new hires, and monitoring progresses throughout the orientation process. Responsible for the initiation and process for completing annual staff competencies. Works collaboratively with Patient Care Service leadership and all Services within the medical center and its affiliating CBOCs in the development and implementation of Patient Care Service and facility-wide education programs and initiatives. Actively participates in workshop/continuing education programs designed for career advancement as well as function in classroom teaching environments, clinical arenas, and as a group facilitator during training and implementation of changes in nursing related computer applications. Provides career, practice, policy, certification, and performance improvement guidance to Critical Care employees from best practice professional organizations to include but not limited to: The American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), the Association for Nursing Professional Development, or any professional nursing organization that will facilitate and advocate for nursing professional development and practice. Attends unit staff meetings.
