Summary:
Under direct supervision, perform all duties related to registering patients receiving services by obtaining demographic, insurance, and medical information and billing tasks.

Two years experience in hospital/medical office environment with familiarity of registration and insurance.Ability to communicate with public in a courteous manner. Ability to adapt to change in order to meet patient and organizational needs. Sensitive to difficult/emotional patient situations. Ability to recognize cultural diversity and special needs, remains calm and able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment.Computer skills with attention to details. Familiar with medical terminology.
Responsibilities:
Interview patient or patients representatives to obtain demographic and insurance information necessary for medical records identification and billing process. Uses the 2 identifiers, patient name and date of birth. Inputs registration information into computer system, verifies accuracy of data entered, captures patient image, and scans appropriate documents. Understands the scanning and document functions. Prepares required forms for signature by patient or patients representative and insures that each is explained and presented. Processes electronic medical record. Follows up with referring physicians office to collect additional records as needed. Verifies Insurance eligibility 100% and medical necessity, using websites and computer applications. This includes new and established patients. Verifies if patient needs referral for physician visits. Daily reconciliation of co-pays. Follow daily end of day procedures. Facilitates patient and information flow by directing patients to correct locations and assist as needed. Understands the physician referral line. Manages all calls for Scheduling, Nursing, Physicians , etc. Assist in care and maintenance of office equipment, building and supplies. Informs Office Coordinator by email of any work orders needed for equipment or repairs. Any computer related issues should be reported to the helpdesk x3178. Understands how to utilize the following systems: Current health information system, DHIN (Delaware Health Information Network), Web sites for insurance verification/eligibility and other systems as needed. Understands how to Manage Medical Records in accordance with HIPAA regulations for patients and other facilities requesting medical records. Performs all others duties as assigned - end of day procedures.
