Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant for the Operating Room Support Staff at Morristown Medical Center to work 11PM-7AM, including every other weekend.
Responsibilities
This multi-skilled position is responsible for supporting the perioperative team in providing high quality patient care and physician service.
Duties include transporting of patients and equipment, cleaning of operating rooms and ancillary areas, checking and restocking of supplies.
- Transports patients, supplies, specimens, blood and equipment as requested.
- Assists in lifting and/or transferring patients from stretcher/bed to OR table and vice versa.
- Assists in holding patient extremities for surgical preparations as directed.
- Ensures positioning devices and equipment are available in the appropriate rooms for cases.
- Properly handles surgical specimens, as directed.
- Performs turnover duties between cases in collaboration with the housekeeper. Cleans medical equipment between cases.
- Assists nursing team by opening sterile supplies, Demonstrates proper aseptic technique.
- Checks case carts for completeness. Obtains necessary equipment, sterile supplies, and positioning aids for scheduled cases.
- Assists with inventory counts and supply outdates, Restocks warmers and rotates fluids.
- Assists with restocking unused supplies in the OR supply room or returns to Central Sterile Department Checks, cleans, and restocks assigned service line storage areas.
- Participates in hospital safety programs, Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
- Maintains patient and medical staff confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Managing the cleanliness around the Operation department and rooms where surgeries take place.
- Properly handles and disposes of sharps, biohazardous waste, regular trash and contaminated linens.
- Contributes to maximum efficiency of the surgical schedule by facilitating on-time case starts and efficient, timely turnovers.
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or GED required
Minimum Experience:
- 1-2 years experience preferred
- Acute, long term, rehabilitation experience preferred
License/Certifications:
- BLS required
- CNA preferred
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have positive, good communication skills
- Candidate must be able to work in a fast paced environment
