Atlantic Health System is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for 10CD at Overlook Medical Center to work 7AM - 7:30PM, including every 3rd weekend.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Performs patient hygiene and comfort functions including bathing, grooming, feeding, back and skin care, TED stockings, and positioning. Changes bed linens according to policy and pm as patient needs necessitate. Obtains and documents vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure). Obtains weights and heights. Assists with elimination needs of the patient: positions on bedpans, OOB to commode or bathroom, measures I & O, & drains and measures output from Foley catheter drainage tubes, and suction bottles. Assists patient with mobility: ambulation, transfer, discharges and ROM activities. Performs post mortem care. Sets up oxygen and suction equipment. Prepares patient tray for meal time and distributes nourishment, snack and water pitchers. Collaborates with Telemetry Technician In maintaining telemetry equipment. Responds promptly to telemetry alarms. Provides and maintains safety and comfort measure for patient. Makes occupied/unoccupied beds. Maintains patient environment, neat and clean. Age Specific Competencies: Encourages patient to use eyeglasses and/or hearing aide(s) as indicated.
Under the direction of the RN, administers medications and educates the patient/family on medication indications and side effects
Under the direction of the RN, carries out the plan of care including dressing changes, urinary catheter insertion/removal, care of nasogastric tubes and gastrostomy tubes, starts and maintain intravenous catheters, blood transfusion monitoring, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, and wound care.
Notifies the RN of any changes in patient condition, contact the physician as needed under direction of the RN.
Under the direction of the RN, educates the patient and family on plan-
of-care, treatment modalities, medication education, and discharge instructions.
Recognizes emergency situation and reacts appropriately administering CPR as needed. Maintains a safe patient care environment including adhering to infection prevention and consistent Implementation of hand hygiene. Demonstrates active involvement and support of all patient safety initiatives both in practice and word.
Collaborates with the patient/family and multidisciplinary1eam to optimize patient and family care. Notifying ancillary departments to ensure the plan of care is being carried out timely.
Consistently responds to patients/families in a courteous and positive manner. Consistently responds to patients needs in a timely manner. Consistently respects the patients right to privacy and dignity. Consistently respects the patients rights to confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines. Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Graduate of LPN program
Minimum Experience:
1-2 years of LPN experience preferred
Licenses/Certification:
Valid NJ LPN License Required
BLS Certification Required
